Community involvement

ConnectMV benefits from open-source software. We like to return the favour by supporting the open-source community in the following ways.

MathJax

MathJax is software for displaying mathematics in a web browser. We are an official MathJax friend. MathJax now has a very fast CDN that you can use, for free, to also display math in your website.

Sphinx

We have been using Sphinx for a long time to generate good looking documents. We periodically supply answers on the Sphinx mailing list, and have contributed several Sphinx enhancements, such as the ability to use reStructuredText and Sphinx as a MediaWiki backend, and a MathJax extension (now included into the main branch of Sphinx).

ucomment.org

We wrote ucomment as a way to publish books and interactive documents. This software allows web users to comment on a document, right at the point of relevance, e.g. a paragraph, an equation, an illustration, a snippet of software code. It also allows for searching a document. Other interactive features are planned.

We use this to publish our interactive guide to using R, Python and MATLAB. We will be using it to publish a book, Process Improvement using Data, later in 2011.

SciPy Central

Our latest project is SciPy Central, a file exchange for scientific programs written in Python. The website is live at scipy-central.org, and you can download the code.
